My current plan is to keep the master/sbo-14.0 branches strictly based on
the REQUIRES directive. However I can set up
master-contrib/sbo-14.0-contrib branches where other changes can take
place. So you can try sending patches, let's see whether I'll manage to
push them.
Further messages on the topic should be sent off-list, I think.
