[sbopkg-users] Sync behind proxy with authentication

Dear all,
how can I sync the remote tree behind a proxy with auth? I hace exported
the corresponding variable as
RSYNC_PROXY=username:password at proxyname:port
but I am still getting a 403 forbidden error.
